William worked with Liz Coward on this project and the book included many extracts from his letters home, training manuals and official war diary’s with the addition of many original photographs. It is a personal, honest and moving account of one man’s life over 6 years of war. The dedication in the book reads ‘For my comrades in the 214th Field Ambulance who never returned and all the men we couldn’t save’.
