As the grandson of a member of 1/4th Essex, I’ve been researching the battalion’s involvement in the Second World War for some time now. I’m keen to get in touch with others whose father and grandfathers served alongside mine in this battalion or, indeed, any of the units that constituted 4th Indian Division in North Africa, Italy or Greece. I have gathered a significant quantity of paperwork, photographs and printed sources yet always hope to learn more and am happy to help anybody else looking into their relatives’ war service.
